Solar Panel Roof Inspection, explained.
Solar panels turn a roof into a platform, and every mount is a hole. The roof under the panels is hard to see and hard to maintain, so problems there can go unnoticed. Flashings at mounts, wire penetrations and shingle damage around standoffs are the places to look.
We use a drone and close-up photography to inspect around and between panels, examining mounts, flashing, sealant and roofing condition. We note shading debris, wiring and areas where water can pool. The report is useful before installing panels, after installation and when a leak appears under an array.

Should I inspect the roof before installing solar?
Yes. It is far easier to repair or replace the roof before panels cover it.
Can panels cause leaks?
Poorly flashed mounts can. Good installation and inspection reduce the risk.
Do you inspect the panels themselves?
We inspect the roof and mounts. Electrical and panel performance are for solar professionals.
